Responsive Governance Deserves Recognition | The Osun Groove Road Repair

On 30 July 2026, Arc. Goke Omigbodun publicly drew attention to the deplorable condition of the access road leading to the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, just days before the grand finale of the internationally celebrated festival. The appeal was made out of genuine concern for the safety of residents, devotees, tourists and other visitors expected at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Reports indicate that roadwork commenced the following day, while the Ministry of Works subsequently rehabilitated and repaired the affected access roads. Arc. Goke Omigbodun sincerely appreciates the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for responding promptly to this important public concern. The intervention helped improve access to the Sacred Grove and provided relief for the thousands of worshippers, cultural enthusiasts and tourists who attended the festival.

This is an encouraging example of constructive citizenship and responsive governance. The original appeal was not made merely to criticise the government, but to draw attention to an urgent situation affecting the image, safety and tourism potential of Osun State. When citizens speak responsibly and those in authority listen and act, society benefits.

We therefore commend Governor Adeleke, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and every government official who contributed to the timely intervention. This achievement belongs to the people of Osogbo and Osun State. We respectfully encourage the government to build upon it through permanent road improvements, effective drainage, proper lighting, signage, sanitation and continuous maintenance around the Sacred Grove.
